Achieving Right-Minded Teamwork® (RMT) involves adopting an attitude of mindfulness.

RMT is a unique, real-world, continuous improvement method that uses these 7 Mindfulness Training Lessons to help people shift their perspective and consistently ensure they Do No Harm as they Work as One®.

Mindfulness is your conscious ability to monitor your thoughts in the present, calmly acknowledging and accepting your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and those of others. This calmness is the catalyst for inviting Reason and experiencing a Moment of Reason, which instantly clarifies the best way to respond to a challenging team situation.

These powerful lessons are inspired by A Course in Miracles and RMT’s Right Choice Model. They can be summed up in one sentence, with emphasis on three words:

Right-Minded Teammates accept, forgive, and adjust their thinking and work behavior.

🧠 Overview: The 7 Mindfulness Training Lessons

In every circumstance, especially during difficult team situations, Right-Minded Teammates practice these lessons to move into a Right-Minded, ally-focused way of thinking and behaving. The Lessons provide the path to freedom from the “psychological prison” of dread, lifting you out of the Battleground so you can resolve problems and transform challenging events into learning opportunities.

  1. I am not upset about this difficult situation for the reason I think.
  2. I accept and own my part in this situation.
  3. It’s impossible that my thoughts about this situation are neutral.
  4. I forgive others and myself.
  5. I will transform the effects of this difficult team situation.
  6. I adjust my thinking and behavior.
  7. I see every difficult team situation as a learning opportunity.

💡 Reason vs. Ego

The philosophy underlying the Lessons, revealed in the Right-Minded Teamwork Myth, centers on two teachers, or thought systems: Reason and Ego. Reason offers guidance toward OnenessOneness is a psychological state of mind. It can be described in many ways using phrases such do no harm, and work as one. Separateness is its opposite. More and shared interest, while Ego offers disastrous advice that leads to separatenessOneness is a psychological state of mind. It can be described in many ways using phrases such do no harm, and work as one. Separateness is its opposite. More and selfishness. By applying the 7 Lessons, you accept Reason’s help to shift your perspective and consistently respond in the best way possible.

🛠️ Applying the Lessons

The Lessons can be applied through self-study or team study.

  • Self-Study: You will learn to use the Lessons to transform difficult situations, such as dealing with the Constantly Complaining Teammate (CCT). The Lessons show you how to shift your perspective so you can find real solutions, instead of believing your life can only get better if the other person changes.
  • Team Study: Utilizing the Teammate Development (RMT Element #5) process, the third workshop in RMT’s implementation plan is an ideal time to explore and discuss how these Lessons can be applied collectively, often utilizing the Reusable Resources like the downloadable 7 Lessons cards and posters.
