Creating Right-Minded Teamwork in Any Team - 5 Element Framework

Teammate Development is the fifth element of the Right-Minded Teamwork (RMT) model.

It is a crucial process in the continuous improvement model for strengthening individual performance by aligning personal skills and attitudes with the team’s goals and the Do No Harm, Work as Oneยฎ RMT philosophy.

This element ensures that teammates are equipped to follow Reason over Ego, enabling them to self-adjust their attitude and behavior when things go wrong. Development resources encourage mindfulness and help teammates embrace the two core talents every teammate brings: technical skill and a Right-Minded attitude.

โœจ Core Resources for RMT Teammates

RMT provides several essential resources designed to strengthen individual contributions and team unity:

1. Right-Minded Attitudes & Thinking

Teammate Development promotes Right-Minded Thinking by encouraging the practice of RMTโ€™s 7 Mindfulness Training Lessons. These lessons help teammates accept, forgive, and adjust their behavior, ensuring they consistently move in a positive, solution-focused direction.

This thinking is built upon the 10 Characteristics of Right-Minded Teammates (including Trust, Honesty, and Faithfulness), which reinforce the team’s Work Agreements.

2. Two Methods for Strengthening Performance

Teammate development is usually addressed after teammates are on board with the teamโ€™s psychological goals (Element #2) and Work Agreements (Element #3).

To improve individual performance, teams can use:

  • RMT Teammate Development Workshop: Group training to improve work skills or interpersonal talents.
  • Individual Coaching or Training: One-on-one development to acquire specific skills (e.g., technical certifications, crisis management) or to develop Right-Minded Thinking as an annual goal.

The application of these methods often utilizes practical tools like the About Me and My Preferences Team Exercise and the Trust Dialogue Team Exercise.

๐Ÿ†• Onboarding

Effective Teammate Development includes proper Onboarding of New Teammates or Team Leaders. This is accomplished in a single short meeting to present all RMT goals and Work Agreements, asking the new member to accept and actively live by them.
