The Right-Minded Teamwork (RMT) Facilitator holds the special function of Team Transformation.
Their role is to guide teams through the RMT process, converting well-meaning, yet dysfunctional, groups into highly functional, collaborative teammates. Essentially, the RMT Facilitator serves as the RMT Teacher for the team.
The Facilitator’s Special Function
The RMT Facilitator is responsible for teaching and applying the entire framework in a “fit-for-purpose” manner. This means they only use methods currently needed to address the team’s root causes, saving others for future growth. Their function includes:
- Teaching RMT: The facilitator introduces the RMT thought system, helping teammates distinguish between Reason (Right-Mindedness) vs. Ego (Wrong-Mindedness).
- Applying Methods and Tools: They utilize the full array of RMT tools—such as the
- 5 Element Framework,
- the Right Choice Model,
- the Punch List, and
- the 12-Step Workshop Design Process—to ensure a fit-for-purpose approach that addresses the team’s specific root causes.
- Transforming Behavior: They guide teammates in converting their mistakes and old habits into the Do No Harm Work as One attitudes and behaviors, as captured in their Work Agreements.
The Commitment to Sustained Change
Creating and sustaining Right-Minded Teamwork is a continuous process that requires a commitment of at least a year. Therefore, a key characteristic of the RMT Facilitator is to stay with the team for the long haul (one to two years) to firmly establish RMT foundations.
The success of this approach is demonstrated in case studies in several RMT books.
However, this comprehensive case study details how Maria, a successful team leader, worked with James, an RMT facilitator, applied the Right-Minded Teamwork (RMT) tools and methods to transform a struggling team in just 12 months, providing field-tested, real-world lessons for transforming any team from “storming” into a high-performing unit.
Teammates often express deep gratitude, with some even saying the RMT Facilitator “saved them,” leading to sustained demand for the facilitator’s support for years to come.
